Requite Golfers Production Underway

It's 2 months into pre-prodution and our crew is assembling-

So far:

Directors: Scott Barbella-Landy + Topher-Liam Froehlich
Screenwriters: Topher-Liam Froehlich + Scott Barbella-Landy
Producers: Scott Barbella-Landy, Topher-Liam Froehlich, and Ed Andrews
Cinematographer: Jorge Arturo Arzac Gaubeca
Editor:
Jorge Arturo Arzac Gaubeca
Lead Sound Designer: Julius C Fernandez

And featuring songs by the hit band 'Blind Pilot'

After almost a year in film school working with professional equipment, SAG actors, industry internships, meeting such prominent directors and actors such as Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), James Franco (Pinapple Express, Spiderman), Sean Penn (Milk), Sidney Lumet (12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon), Charlize Theron (The Italian Job), Brad Bird (The INcredibles), Brian Singer (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie), Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), and Robert DeNiro (The Godfather Part 2, Goodfellas)... we are working our way into the fray.

We are currently looking to take 'Trif3cta Films' to a professional level and are filling out the paperwork nessisary to make it officially legal. We are getting our names out there, our feet in the door, and our work on the minds of the public.
While Chris Melberger is savagly working on it, check out our website.

This summer, we are assembling a team of combined work forces and schools alike, production agencies and film enthusiasts alike to make another feature-length film. With the enthusiasm and acknowledgment following the highly amateur 'A Price to be Paid' receiving WGA acknowledgment, our next script is headed (God-willing) for Sundance 2010.

The movie is called 'Requite Golfers' : and we are currently working out the kinks in the script that are holding up pre-production - but as it stands we are still in pre-production. A dramady, this film will be feature length and shot on HD DV with a crew of student filmmakers. It's about several teens stuck in 'graduation purgatory' - the gap of time between high school and college - not fully wanting to stay but not quite ready to leave. Having felt as though none of them have accomplished anything, they decide to try and rob a jewlery store, and hilarity ensues... but not without meaning. A true character-study, the film will catch the attention of the industry..

and while our crew is pretty solid, we are in need of some good actors. We have the option to use SAG actors who will work for free, but transportation from NYC for a 30 day shoot would be murder. So we're once more looking to the talent-filled Sparta to help out - join and make your mark in film infamy. The actual filming would be this summer, between June and early August.

As far as the pay goes - we have some people who are looking to produce us but will only do so once we have a substantial amount of work done. You will know as soon as we do. This will be our (Tirf3cta Films) second feature-length film, and our sponsors plan to send this one to as many festivals as possible. So while we can't guarantee money, its definitely a good way to get your name out there.

Let me know if you have second thoughts or any questions.

A Brief History of TRIF3CTA Part III

"A PRICE TO BE PAID"

The movie that ended up taking more than half of our senior year at high school to complete, was originally intended to be the first of 3 short movies Scott and I planned to make during the year.  People had continuously been asking the pair of us, because of the success of "The Duel", when we would make our next project.  Scott and I decided we would resurrect an old story we had once thought up as a creative writing project for Scott.

I began to write the script.  Our initial plan was to make a 20-minute film.  As more and more people said they wanted to be in it, I found myself adding scenes to make room for more characters.

By mid-October 2007, the script was already 50 pages, and I suspected the movie would now run close to 40 or 50 minutes.  Scott and I initially aimed to release it by December.

The audition process began, and what a process it was.  Interest in the movie was not as high straight away as we had anticipated.  I knew I wanted Scott to play the lead, he agreed, but filling the other parts was far tougher.  Most of the actors who initially showed to audition were all female.  And we had several male parts that required filling.

Most parts, we simply gave out to people we thought would fit the bill.  This is how Amanda Robinson and Mike Lucio came to receive their characters.  Although I specifically had Greg Sobotka in mind for the part of Carter, he gave a reading anyway, and that matter was settled.    Mark Inga was similarly just given a role, but he became one of our players who could never meet the requirements of our scheduling.  His replacement would be Pat Pait, a man we collected on the spot, the day his scene NEEDED to be filmed.

Filling the part of Niki, lead character Jack's wife, proved most difficult.  All the actresses vying for the role were too young or did not quite possess the right attitude needed.  Eventually the choice came down to 2 very different actresses: Emma Dellagatta and Eugenia Codjoe.  Scott, Matt Arnold (our co-producer) and I decided to role with Emma.  After 2 months into the shoot, she had had too many scheduling conflicts with our desired shoot and we had to regrettably let her go.  Eugenia was given back the role.

As to the part I had most worried over, that of the second lead, betrayed hit man Sam, Scott and I were given a blessing.  It was just one of those random chance acts, that are never quite explainable, that Joe Stark came seeking an audition.  Initially, I was unimpressed with his reading, but from his first day on set until the film's opening, Joe was the movie's consummate scene-stealer.  His high energy, charisma, and ability to instill terror and menace into the simplest of gestures (the click of a lighter; something that became infamous in the school after the movie debuted), played well with Scott's quiet, brooding persona.  It was Scott who insisted to me that Joe get the part, and this move paid off in spades.

As production rolled on, more and more scenes became added, the release date was further pushed back, and Scott went through great lengths of trouble to get us the proper locations required for filming.  Another recast was required when we substituted Matt Arnold for Greg Sobotka (who luckily helped a great deal with our cinematography towards productions final days), and John Chichin for Frank Disoma.

Well that's all for now people.  Part IV will come, when I get some free time!
Peace,
Topher-Liam

http://www.youtube.com/projectdirect

I told Topher about this the other day, and he is interested in entering it, which will definitely be much-needed publicity to help get Trif3cta noticed.

Requite Golfers & Wiseguys

It has been determined that the shoot for the summer of 2009 will be 'Requite Golfers'

Topher and myself are currently working on the script, and after several revisions we can finally agree that it is moving along well.

A side note: after looking through many areas of the Melberger household, it appears that Chris Melberger has once more recovered the first film we all made with the HD cam... Wiseguys! After being lost for 2 years, I will enjoy watching the movie.
